Excavation
From constructing levees to highways, the crews at Better By Design, LLC use large track hoes, haul trucks, tractors, scrapers, and dozers to move hundreds of thousands of cubic yards of dirt and rock, annually.
GPS control is utilized to grade projects to their desired grade. We also use a drone to do routine topographic surveys. Periodic drone surveys allow the company great flexibility with planning and quality control.

RipRap
Transporting and placing riprap is one of Better By Design’s favorite activities. Whether it’s filling in a scour hole on one of the ‘Big Rivers’ or armoring a recreational lake’s shoreline, our crews excel in the handling and placing of riprap.
Environmental
Better By Design, LLC executed its first EPA contract in 2019, and has since added two more environmental remediation contracts to its portfolio. Our company has expertise in the mass movement of lead-contaminated soil, residential remediation, pilot study routine maintenance, and industrial site clean-up.
Flood Fight
The company’s location near both the Missouri River and the Mississippi River make us an ideal partner for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to call upon during flooding events.
We have excellent experience mobilizing with very little notice, working seven days a week placing riprap, building access roads to problem areas, replacing gaps in levees, and armoring levees in rising waters.
Design-Build
Recognizing the changing landscape of federal contracting, Better By Design, LLC has won two design build contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The company owns and operates GPS controlled heavy equipment, GPS survey equipment, a survey Drone, and employs both a Hydrologic Engineer and PE that specializes in utility and site work design.
Construction Management
The Project Managers at Better By Design are experienced at managing construction projects of all sizes. Whether representing the owner or managing subcontractors, the basic principles of construction are the same. The company’s professionals can manage schedules, verify construction complete estimates, troubleshoot problems and all the challenges that come with managing construction projects.
